This is Musashi-Kaori, a single-origin tea. This variety was developed at the Saitama Tea Research Institute but has a quarter of its lineage from Taiwanese tea. This is why it has a gorgeous magnolia flower aroma. The colour of the tea is beautiful green because it is covered for 4 days before plucking.

No additives such as sugar, flavors, or seasonings are used.
The astringency and bitterness of Japanese tea comes from a component called catechin.
Catechins are a type of polyphenol with strong antioxidant and antibacterial properties.

While most Japanese teas are made by blending tea leaves bought from all over Japan, in Sayama each farmer is responsible for the entire process from cultivation to production. Our teas are single origin teas which are not blended with other varieties grown on the same farm. This means that you can perfect trace the tea, where it was grown, when it was picked, by whom and how it was produced. Each variety has its own colour, aroma and taste. Please enjoy this diverse and fascinating world of Japanese green tea.
